About

Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
    you make my lot secure.
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
    surely I have a delightful inheritance.
I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
    even at night my heart instructs me.
  I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
    With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Psalm 16:5-8

We are not women who like the concept of boundary lines. In fact, we spend a great deal of our lives working hard to achieve what we do not currently have and what we desperately desire. Truth be told, what we desire changes constantly, and more often than not, we are convinced that if we just had a different set of circumstances, then we would finally be happy and content. But if reaching our own changing definition of happiness actually resulted in true and lasting joy, why are most of the people we know- including ourselves- still not satisfied?

What we know to be true is that seeking after circumstantial happiness does not deliver what it seems to promise. There must be a more stable hope than having our expectations met. There is.
